If hip or knee replacement surgery is in your future, you should be planning for more than just your hospital stay. You should be thinking about the weeks and months to follow. "No one wants a long period of disability," says Mark Froimson, M.D., an orthopaedic surgeon at Cleveland Clinic. "The two main concerns people have when considering joint replacement surgery is how much pain theyll have after surgery and what will be the length of their recovery. So we address those things with pain medications and a program that allows them to move rapidly toward recovery."
