The effects of rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory diseases dont stop at your joints. Rheumatic illnesses also may manifest in the eyes, causing an array of disorders that, left untreated, can have serious consequences. "There are many different types of arthritis, and some of them really affect the eyes," says Careen Lowder, MD, with Cleveland Clinics Cole Eye Institute. "You shouldnt disregard any of these conditions, because they can lead to blindness."
