People with arthritis and other kinds of chronic pain are used to taking pain medications, such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammtory drugs and even steroids, to manage their discomfort. But, “there’s more to wellness than taking medication,” says Sally Sherwin, a yoga therapist at Cleveland Clinic Center for Lifestyle and Integrative Medicine. “There are many easy meditation and breathing techniques that are very effective and simple to incorporate into your day.” They can help manage pain and possibly reduce your need for medications.
