Stem cell therapy is a potentially promising approach for musculoskeletal pain from conditions such as osteoarthritis and degenerative disk disease. However, even though the treatment is offered in clinics around the country as well as some medical centers, it is still being studied. It has not yet been shown conclusively to have a benefit. And it is not covered by health insurance.
