Pain and tenderness on the top of the shoulder that intensifies when you reach your arm across your body may be a sign of arthritis in the acromioclavicular (AC) joint, one of the two joints at the shoulder. While osteoarthritis more commonly affects the ball-and-socket joint where the upper arm bone sits in the shallow socket of the shoulder blade (glenohumeral joint), it also can occur in the AC joint.
