Eating Dried Plums Helps Stem Osteoporosis Fractures

Researchers from Florida State and Oklahoma State Universitiy have found a simple solution to help prevent osteoporosis fractures: eating dried plums. Two groups of postmenopausal women were tested. Over a 12-month period, the first group, consisting of 55 women, consumed 100 grams of dried plums (about 10 prunes) each day, while the second, a control group of 45 women, consumed 100 grams of dried apples. All participants received daily doses of calcium and vitamin D.
