Drug manufacturers invest millions of dollars annually in developing pharmaceuticals and establishing their recommended dosages. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration carefully tests these drugs and their dosages prior to approving them for sale to the public. Your doctor carefully assesses your overall health before prescribing a medication to you. And your pharmacist is responsible for filling your prescription properly and providing you with clear information on how much of a specific drug you should be taking each day and how frequently you should be taking it. But since starting your medication, your arthritis pain has disappeared-so you decide that you can cut back on how often you take it. Or because the medication doesnt seem to be working at all, you stop taking it altogether.
