Gout comes as acute attacks, but it is really a chronic inflammatory disease that isn't just going away. If your diet is high in meat and alcohol, that uric acid will keep building. Medications seem like the best solution. Gout is caused by a buildup of uric acid in the bloodstream that crystallizes in the joints. It can also materialize in the tendons and bursa-the cushion between the bones and tendons and muscles around a joint. The big toe is the joint most commonly affected by the condition, but the disease can also cause inflammation of the knee, ankle, wrist, hand and elbow joints.
